We all have to spend time in the bathroom every day. The more time we can cut off our morning and evening rituals, the better off we’ll be. Sometimes 5 to 15 minutes in the morning can make a huge difference in how rushed or relaxed we feel for the rest of the day. You can cut some time out of your bathroom rituals simply by making sure you have the right type of bathroom light installed. You can even cut time and work off your cleaning routine if you have a properly lit bathroom.
Adequate Bathroom Lighting
Waking up each day to a dim bathroom will affect how you feel, just as waking up each day to an overly bright, harshly lit bathroom will affect your mood. Finding the right bathroom lights really can help set your mood from the moment you get up. Not only will the quality of light affect you, the abundance of light can help you get through things like shaving or putting on makeup in record time. If you can’t see very well, doing those things is naturally going to take longer. So proper task lighting around the bathroom mirror will make you go faster in the morning. If you don’t already have bathroom lighting fixtures around your mirror in a way that lights up the mirror and your face, invest in some and you might be surprised at how differently your mornings go.
Your Bathroom Ceiling Light
The quality of your overhead lighting is important, too. The task lighting that helps you when you’re in front of the sink is important, but the overhead lighting determines how bright or dim the entire room is. When you’re bathing or taking a shower, you might opt to have the room a little bit dimmer so that you can relax, especially for that evening bath. But in the mornings, you might want slightly brighter light to help wake you up. Install good overhead lighting with a dimmer switch if you like a bit of variety. Make sure you choose a light that does have some sort of a dome or shade on it to avoid the harsh glare while still allowing the brightness to come through.
Other Benefits of Good Bathroom Light Fixtures
Most fall-related injuries in the home happen in the bathroom. Often, falls happen while getting in and out of the bathtub, but it can also happen when simply walking through the room and stepping on a wet spot of floor. Good lighting, along with making sure you have an absorbent bath mat, can help prevent these types of slips.
You’ll also be glad you have bright light in the bathroom when it comes to cleaning day. The better you can see in all those nooks and crannies, the easier you can get them clean and get out of there quickly.
