USB LED lights are great accessories for laptops, especially when you use your laptop to work on while traveling and on the go. You can even use this type of accessory on your home desktop computer if the USB ports are on the front of the tower and you find yourself in need of a little extra light. If you don’t have a desk lamp or some other way to light up your workspace, then a USB LED light can illuminate your keyboard area quickly and inexpensively.
Benefits of USB LED Lights
LED lights use far less power than other types of lights, so there won’t be a big draw on your computer’s power. If you’re using it with a plugged in desktop computer this might not be a concern. However, if you find that you frequently need extra light, you’ll probably be far better off getting a desk lamp or some type of overhead light than using a USB accessory.
For a laptop computer, however, USB accessories are ideal. These are small, inexpensive and easily portable, just like your computer. If you’re traveling and trying to work, a USB LED light is perfect for lighting up your keyboard or whatever you need to shine some light on. And because the light doesn’t use much power, it won’t cause your battery to drain too quickly.
Do look for some specific features in a USB LED light, however, to make sure you’re completely happy with your purchase. Be sure to choose one that has an off switch. Many models simply come on when plugged into the USB port and go off when unplugged. It’s far more convenient to have one that you can switch off and leave in place.
Other Great USB LED Light Features
You also might want to look for one that has different brightness settings. A light that has only one brightness setting could be too bright or too dim. You may wish to be able to change the setting depending on the changing level of brightness around you. Having that option can make a difference in how much you enjoy working on your computer.
Having adjustable light can also make a difference if you’re using your USB LED light in a place where others are around and you don’t want to annoy them with the glare of a light that’s too bright. You can find these lights as inexpensively as a dollar or two, but the ones that cost a few dollars more will probably have more of the features you want.
